Description:
-Assess students’ work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve their content knowledge, critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, etc.
-Instruct a range of undergraduate courses in the criminology core curriculum
-Perform other departmental duties and attend activities as necessary, including attending department and college meetings and participating in committees, task forces, and others as required.
-Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions, including senior capstone theses and internships.
-Engage students in research where possible.
-Create inclusive spaces in and outside the classroom.
-Develop opportunities for community-engaged learning.
-Pursue current and new research activities in the field(s) of study, including new research projects, writing/dissemination of current and future research, and presentation of research at conferences or other appropriate venues.
-Leverage experience and content knowledge to develop and review curricula for the criminology major and minor.
-Contribute to continual program improvement through annual evaluation of program outcomes and objectives.
-Prepare departmental reports as requested.
-Attend conferences and workshops as necessary to remain active in the field(s) of study; engage with campus resources and professional organizations to further develop teaching, pedagogical, and mentoring skills; and complete campus-wide training as required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.

Qualifications: Basic qualifications are required at the time of application:
-Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, or a very closely related discipline by August 2026. A J.D. alone is not appropriate for this position.
-Ability to bridge the disciplines of sociology and criminology.
-Evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate students.
-A clear research agenda, including demonstrated potential for peer-reviewed publications in criminology.
-Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and research.

Description: The teaching load is 24 credits per year, including a May Term every three years. Candidates must be able to teach courses such as Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Law and Procedure, Corrections, and/or a Criminal Justice Capstone Seminar. Faculty may have the opportunity to develop new courses in their specialty. Candidates must also be willing to contribute to the general education curriculum by teaching statistics or first-year writing. Ideal candidates will have an active scholarly agenda that may include collaborating with students. 

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in criminal justice/criminology or a closely related discipline; ABD will be considered.

Description: The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Elmhurst University welcomes applications for a visiting lecturer in sociology and criminal justice, to begin the spring of 2026. Of particular interest are generalist candidates with experience teaching in both sociology and criminal justice, including classes across the undergraduate curriculum. Courses may include introductory courses, Research Methods, and upper-level electives including Juvenile Delinquency and Race and Ethnic Relations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and service, create an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body, show the potential for excellence in research, and be committed to public sociology and social justice.Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential.

Description: The University of Arkansas Little Rock (UA Little Rock) School of Criminal Justice and Criminology invites applications for at least two (2) Instructor (non-tenure track) positions to begin August 2026. We seek candidates with an MA/MS in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related field, PhD preferred. Applicants with a JD will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants with advanced degrees in Criminal Justice and/or Criminology. 

The area of specialization is open. We are seeking an individual who can teach across our undergraduate curriculum. The ideal candidate will be able to teach any required courses in our undergraduate curriculum, especially Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police and Society, Corrections, as well as Crime and Behavior. Strong candidates will also have the ability to teach undergraduate elective courses. This position is a 9-month contract that includes teaching in face-to-face and online formats. Candidates are expected to (1) work positively with students, staff, faculty, and the community; (2) teach a variety of undergraduate courses; (3) provide academic advising services to undergraduate students; and (4) provide service to the department, college, university, and community.

We seek a faculty member with a doctorate in criminal justice, criminology, or a closely related field. The successful candidate should demonstrate a record of conducting research in their area, teaching effectiveness, and a commitment to serving the community, University, School of Public Service, CJ Program, and discipline. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in various formats and modalities, including undergraduate and graduate level classes such as Introduction to Courts and Sentencing, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law, among others, such as research methods or statistics. The person in this position will supervise master’s students and teach courses that are a part of our growing Legal Studies minor.
